Pesmel renewed its project management with Solu Digital. The new solution introduced greater transparency, predictability, and efficiency to projects across the entire organization.

Pesmel is a Finnish industrial company that designs and delivers automated warehouses, packaging solutions, and logistics systems. The company’s customers are mainly found in the steel, pulp and paper, and tire industries. Its operations focus on large-scale project deliveries, where success requires precise coordination and smooth collaboration.
Project Manager Tiina Bayer describes the situation at the beginning: “We wanted a unified system where information flows from one place to another and everything is easily accessible. The goal was also to reduce duplicate work so that the same information would not need to be updated in multiple places.”
The need to increase transparency and reduce duplicate work prompted Pesmel to look for a new solution.
A unified solution to support everyday life
In collaboration with Solu Digital, Pesmel implemented a project management solution that integrates scheduling, resource management, and project structures into a single entity. The system was integrated into the Microsoft 365 environment’s enterprise resource planning system, and simultaneously, Power BI reporting was introduced.
“We have all the integrations to ERP, various templates for project management, and views that make the work of project managers and department heads easier. We have also developed Power Apps solutions for production and developed automated reporting,” says Tiina.
The reform has made the progress of projects more visible and increased the manageability of the work. Already in the early stages, the benefits were visible as information was more easily available to all parties than before.
Transparency and early response
The most significant benefits of the solution are related to the consistency and visibility of information. When budgets, schedules, and tasks are in one place, their monitoring becomes easier, and deviations can be noticed in a timely manner.
“When we can monitor the project stages more closely, for example, in terms of manufacturing, we can immediately see if the schedule is in danger of being extended. Then we can react in time,” says Tiina.
Thanks to transparency, risk management has also improved. If unexpected cost differences arise, project managers can quickly take action to prevent budget overruns. The benefits support both daily work and management decision-making.
Solu 365 automates the foundation of project work
Pesmel also utilizes the Solu 365 automation tool, which automatically creates project-specific Teams groups and the necessary M365 resources. Communication, documentation, and collaboration begin as soon as the project starts, eliminating the need for additional manual steps.
“Many customers have actively used Teams groups. It has been the most visible part of the change for them and has received good feedback. There has also been enthusiasm internally about getting rid of many separate Excel files,” Tiina says.
Automation has made starting projects smoother and freed up time for the actual work. The change has been significant, especially since the new solution allows for more detailed monitoring of project progress and clearer management of schedules.

Tiina praises Solu Digital’s role in the project implementation: “We have been listened to carefully, and we have been able to think together about which solution works best in our operating model. In addition, even smaller needs have been responded to quickly, which has been a big help in everyday life.”
